Sight
We examine how linguistic categories shape visual perception and the cognitive organisation of events. Our studies examine whether language-specific distinctions, such as colour lexicons or verb-based event structure, systematically influence perceptual discrimination, attentional allocation, anticipatory eye movements, and memory for visual scenes. In doing so, we test how the grammatical and lexical resources of a language guide what speakers notice, segment, and retain from thevisual world.
